Enjoy the gradual transition of landscapes from mountainous terrain to semi-desertic surroundings as you travel through this region. Take in the vast natural beauty of the landscapes, offering a peaceful and unique view of central Mexico.
Upon arrival in Querétaro, we explore the El Cerrito Archaeological Zone, an ancient site that reveals the area’s pre-Hispanic past. Here, you’ll discover a large pyramid that once stood as a key ceremonial site for the region’s ancient civilizations. At the top of the pyramid, you’ll find the remains of a church, highlighting the blending of indigenous and colonial history in this remarkable site. Learn from your guide about the various pre-Hispanic groups that inhabited the region, and explore the archaeological wonders left behind.
Next, we head to Cerro de las Campanas, the iconic hill of Querétaro, which has witnessed several historic events throughout Mexico’s history. This symbolic hill is not only a site of scenic beauty but also holds significant historical importance as the place where Emperor Maximilian I was executed. Visit the museum located at the base of the hill to learn more about the events that shaped the history of Mexico and the rich cultural heritage of Querétaro.
Afterward, we transfer to the UNESCO-listed historic center of Querétaro, where you can enjoy a leisurely walk through the city’s colorful streets and admire the stunning Baroque architecture. The historic center of Querétaro is a treasure trove of charming colonial buildings, elegant courtyards, and beautiful churches. Wander down streets lined with colorful facades and discover the elegance that has earned this city its place on the UNESCO list.
During your tour, you’ll have the chance to dive deeper into the local gastronomical culture. Savor some of Querétaro’s most iconic culinary specialties, including enchiladas queretanas and pan de elote (corn cake), along with other delicious regional dishes that showcase the rich flavors and history of the area.
