Itinerary
Meet your tour guide and head to our first stop Cholula, a Magical Town that is renowned for its Great Pyramid, which is topped by the beautiful Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de Los Remedios sanctuary. This pyramid is not only a historical marvel but also an essential site for understanding the deep-rooted cultural and spiritual heritage of the region. Admire the panoramic views from the top and explore the stunning church. Afterward, stroll through the charming historic center of Cholula, where you can wander the colorful streets and visit the municipal market. Here, you’ll have the chance to sample some of Puebla’s famous food specialties, from tacos al pastor to tlayudas, and enjoy the bustling atmosphere of the market.
Next, we head to Puebla City, the state’s capital, famous for its colonial architecture, beautiful lanes, and historic churches. As we walk through the city’s charming streets, your guide will share insights into Puebla’s colonial past, highlighting the stunning buildings and churches that make the city so unique. Along the way, indulge in Puebla’s culinary offerings by trying some of its most authentic dishes. Sample the rich flavors of cemitas, a sandwich-style delicacy filled with juicy meats, fresh avocados, and spicy salsa. Savor chalupas, crispy tortillas topped with salsa and various fillings, and the iconic chile en nogada, a dish full of pomegranate seeds and walnut sauce that tells the story of Puebla’s independence.
As we continue through the city, we’ll stop at the Convento de San Francisco, a historical monastery known for being the birthplace of mole poblano, one of the most famous Mexican dishes in the world. Learn about the creation of this rich and complex sauce, which blends ingredients like chocolate, chili, and spices, and explore the historical importance of this dish in the region.
Next, we visit the famous Parian craft market, where you can explore the handmade crafts, textiles, and ceramics that Puebla is known for. This is the perfect place to pick up unique regional souvenirs and taste some traditional candies such as camotes and borrachitos, both a delightful treat for your sweet tooth.
Additionally, don’t miss the opportunity to try some of Puebla’s regional drinks. From handmade local liquors to pulque (a traditional fermented agave drink) and artisanal mezcal, these beverages offer a unique taste of the region and a great way todive into in the local culture.
