Day 1: Mexico City - Cholula - Puebla
In the morning, after a delicious breakfast, continue exploring the charming streets and lanes of Puebla, soaking in its atmosphere. Visit the famous food market to discover the history of Puebla’s culinary traditions and sample some of the best local specialties, from savory dishes to sweet treats.
Next, we’ll head south to a family-owned palenque where mezcal has been crafted for over 70 years. Learn about the process that sets mezcal apart from tequila, take a stroll through the agave fields, and taste some of the finest smoky varieties of this traditional drink.
Afterward, we’ll continue to Atlixco, a “Magical Town” nestled near the towering Popocatépetl volcano. Here, we’ll visit a local artisanal brewery for a tour and tasting of the finest craft beers. The day will end with a stunning sunset on the hill with panoramic views of the volcano. In the evening, after check-in and some rest, join your group and Tour Leader for a walk through the town’s historic center, followed by an optional dinner and get-together at a local restaurant or bar.

Day 2: Puebla - Atlixco
In the morning, after breakfast, continue exploring Puebla, wandering its streets and lanes. Next, visit its famous food market to discover the history and taste some of the best local specialties. Afterward, head south to a family-owned palenque, where mezcal has been crafted for over 70 years. Learn about the difference between mezcal and tequila, stroll through agave fields, and enjoy tasting some of the finest varieties of this smoky drink. Then, we will continue to Atlixco, a “Magical Town” near the Popocatépetl volcano. Here, we’ll visit a local artisanal beer brewery for a tour and tasting of their finest brews. The afternoon ends with a sunset on the hill, offering stunning views of the volcano.
In the evening, after check-in and some rest, join your group and Tour Leader for a walk through Atlixco’s historic center. Finally, opt for an optional dinner and get-together at one of the local restaurants or bars.

Day 3: Atlixco - Mexico City
Start your day with a breakfast food experience at the local market, where you’ll sample a variety of traditional dishes. Afterward, take a tour of some of the town’s most famous artisanal ice cream shops, known for their unique flavors. Next, head north to a local farm to explore the fascinating production of pulque, an ancient fermented drink made from the sap of the agave plant. You’ll meet a skilled tlachiquero, who will demonstrate how he extracts the sap (“aguamiel”), and you’ll even have the opportunity to try it yourself. For lunch, indulge in regional specialties featuring chinicuil (maguey worm), a local delicacy, paired with fresh pulque. The meal will be topped off with a delicious dessert of pan de pulque (“pulque bread”). After this satisfying culinary journey, we’ll make our way back to Mexico City, bringing this unforgettable tour to a close.
