Day 1: Day 1: Nevado de Toluca and Toluca City (12 h)
Welcome to our Mexico City Hiking Tour! On the first day, climb Nevado de Toluca, an extinct volcano and the 4th highest summit in Mexico. This breathtaking peak offers panoramic views of the surrounding mountainous landscapes and features two unique twin lakes nestled within its crater. The hike provides an excellent opportunity to experience nature at its finest and capture stunning photos of the rugged terrain.
Afterward, head to Toluca, the vibrant capital city of the State of Mexico, known for its historical charm and cultural significance. Stroll through the city’s historic center, where youāll find beautiful colonial architecture and lively plazas.
One of the cityās standout attractions is the Cosmovitral, the worldās largest stained-glass structure. This extraordinary piece of art tells the story of mankind and the duality of nature through vibrant, colorful glass panels. Situated inside a beautifully preserved Art Nouveau building, the Cosmovitral also houses a vast botanical garden, making it a perfect blend of art and nature for visitors to explore and appreciate.

Day 2: Day 2: Iztaccihuatl and Amecameca (12 h)
After being picked up from your accommodation, enjoy a scenic drive through the picturesque Valley of Mexico, taking in the breathtaking views of the surrounding landscapes. Arriving at El Paso de CortƩs, a mountain pass between the iconic PopocatƩpetl and Iztaccihuatl volcanoes, you will be at 3,400 meters. From there, continue your journey to La Joya, a high mountain hut situated at 3,977 meters above sea level, accessible via one of the highest mountain roads in Mexico. This is where your 4-hour hike begins, leading you toward the snow line of the volcano. The trail offers an intermediate-level challenge, making it suitable for both novices and experienced hikers.
Depending on time, weather, and your physical condition, you can continue to ascend to 4,200ā4,800 meters. This will reward you with breathtaking views of snowcapped peaks, glaciers, and the Valley of Mexico, with the magnificent PopocatĆ©petl volcano smoking in the distance. Take your time to appreciate the serenity and beauty of this mountainous region, snapping plenty of photos as you soak in the tranquility.
After your hike, descend and head to the charming town of Amecameca, where you’ll explore its historic center. Experience the local culture with a Market Food Experience, sampling some of the town’s best traditional dishes.
Finally, relax on your drive back to Mexico City, reflecting on an adventurous and fulfilling day.

Day 3: Day 3: La Malinche and Tlaxcala City (14 h)
On the last day, hop on an unforgettable adventure by climbing La Malinche, the 6th highest volcano in Mexico, reaching a summit of 4,461 meters (14,636 feet). This majestic peak offers an awe-inspiring view of the surrounding mountains. Start with a challenging 6-kilometer hike to the top, where youāll experience the breathtaking natural beauty of the area. Known for its striking landscapes, La Malinche is often used by hikers looking to train and acclimatize for higher elevations, making it an excellent destination for adventure enthusiasts.
After conquering the volcano, continue your journey to Tlaxcala, the peaceful capital of the smallest state in Mexico. This charming town is renowned for its well-preserved colonial historic center, where you can stroll through cobblestone streets and admire its picturesque buildings. On your way to Tlaxcala, make a stop at the Basilica of Our Lady of Ocotlan, a beautiful church famous for its white-plaster faƧade and impressive Baroque interior from the late 17th century.
