Itinerary
Gear up for the Iztaccihuatl Hiking Tour! Our adventure begins with a drive through the Valley of Mexico, where rolling hills and old villages pass by, framed by the legendary twin volcanoes: Popocatépetl and Iztaccíhuatl.
As we ascend, we arrive at the historic Paso de Cortés, a mountain pass at 3,400 meters (11,155 ft). This site holds deep significance and offers the first taste of invigorating mountain air. From here, we continue to La Joya, a mountain station perched at 3,977 meters (13,048 ft). The anticipation builds as we prepare for the main challenge—a 4-hour Iztaccihuatl hike toward the snow line.
With every step, immerse yourself in the rugged beauty of the alpine landscape. The trail winds through high-altitude meadows and rocky slopes, offering stunning views. Be dazzled by the ever-changing scenery where clouds reveal Popocatépetl’s smoking summit, a constant reminder of nature’s power. Your guide will share insights about the region’s geology and the local legends of these “sentinels.”
Once back at the vehicle, we head to Amecameca, a charming town known for its colonial architecture and mountain traditions. Stroll through its historic center and savor delicious local specialties, a well-earned reward after a day of trekking.
As the day draws to a close, relax as we journey back to Mexico City, cherishing the achievement of exploring one of Mexico’s highest peaks.
