Itinerary
Get ready for our Dia de Muertos Tour! Your day begins as you meet your guide and hop on a transfer to Atlixco, a picturesque town in Puebla, where the magic of the Day of the Dead comes to life. Along the way, your guide will share captivating stories about this cherished Mexican tradition, providing insight into its profound cultural and spiritual significance.
Upon arrival, we’ll start by exploring the beautiful cempasúchil fields that stretch out before you, their golden marigold petals symbolizing the spirits of the departed. Wander through local nurseries, where you’ll learn about the process of growing these iconic flowers and the deep-rooted spiritual connection the locals have with them. This is a unique opportunity to see firsthand how local farmers cultivate these sacred flowers, which play a central role in Day of the Dead altars and celebrations.
Next, we’ll make our way to a viewpoint that overlooks the town of Atlixco. From here, you’ll be able to admire the town’s uniqueness, with mountains in the distance and the colorful streets below. After soaking in the scenery, we’ll head down La Escalera Ancha (The Wide Stairs), a charming street adorned with festive decorations that celebrate the essence of the Day of the Dead. As we descend, we’ll enjoy views of the town, which is beautifully transformed for the occasion.
Our journey continues with a visit to Valle de las Catrinas, a mesmerizing display featuring thirteen giant Catrina figures, each intricately decorated to embody the spirit of the Day of the Dead. These magnificent figures, a symbol of life and death, are meticulously adorned with colors, creating a larger-than-life celebration of the holiday.
As the day winds down, we’ll make our way back to Mexico City, reflecting on the beautiful moments we’ve shared, the cultural richness we’ve experienced, and the unforgettable memories of a day full of color, culture, and celebration.
