Itinerary
Prepare for our Mexican Cooking Classes! To awaken your senses and deepen your connection with Mexico’s rich culinary experience. In the morning, you’ll meet your tour guide and set off toward the historic city of Puebla, one of the country’s most iconic food capitals. With its markets, storied recipes, and colorful streets, Puebla is the perfect setting for a day filled with flavor and tradition.
Our first stop is a traditional local market, where aromas, colors, and textures burst from every corner. Here, you’ll get to taste authentic Pueblan delicacies like cemitas (a flavorful sandwich with avocado and chipotle), chile atole (a savory, spicy corn-based drink), and agua fresca made from fresh fruits. As you explore the stalls, you’ll gain insight into the ingredients and culinary traditions shaping this region’s world-famous cuisine.
Next, we’ll visit the Museum of Popular Art, housed in a 17th-century former convent. This museum celebrates the artisanal culture of Puebla’s seven regions, showcasing handicrafts, textiles, and ceramics. You’ll also get a glimpse of the convent’s historic kitchen, widely regarded as the birthplace of mole poblano, one of Mexico’s most iconic dishes made with chiles, spices, and chocolate.
Following our cultural deep dive, we’ll enjoy an orientation walk around Puebla’s UNESCO-listed historic center, where you’ll admire colonial architecture, Talavera-tiled buildings, and lively public squares.
Then comes the highlight of the day—your hands-on cooking class led by a skilled local chef! You’ll return to the market with your chef to pick out fresh ingredients, learning about their role in traditional dishes. Back at a cozy kitchen, you’ll prepare a full meal—perhaps mole, chiles en nogada, or tamalitos—under the chef’s guidance. The best part? You’ll sit down to enjoy your culinary creations, accompanied by stories and laughter shared with your group.
Before heading back to Mexico City, we’ll cap off the experience with a tasting of artisanal liquors, including mezcal or fruit liqueurs, adding a final layer of flavor to your adventure.
Ready to cook, taste, and explore like a local? Let’s go on a flavor-filled journey in Puebla!
