Prepare yourself for a day of exploration and fun! Plunge into the world of ancient Maya and get to know its incredible culture while birding either in unique habitats.
The outset of our adventure takes us bird watching around the picturesque lake Coba. This is a place birdwatchers would love, you get to see many different kinds of birds in their natural environment. Next, we visit the old metropolis of Coba that used to thrive during 200-800 AD. Think huge pyramids, squares, palaces and monuments buried inside the jungle for more than 1000-years. From here, you can learn about the ancient Mayan civilization and other tropical flora and fauna. You can even take a bike ride around the middle circle!
Then you will have free time to spend with the spider monkeys of Punta Laguna, or enjoy a refreshing swim in the cenote nearby. The area is a bird watchers paradise boasting over 360 species. Be on the lookout for howler monkeys, birds of all kinds and extraordinary trees as we take you through jungle trails.
Last stop will be at another community cenote where we can take a swim in the cool waters and learn about a bit of Yucatan geology. We will take a rest for lunch and get to eat healthy homemade meal cooked by local ingredients in the house of family as well.
