Itinerary
The Bacalar Boat Tour will guide you on a 3-hour adventure. Upon arrival at the Casa China, you will be equipped with everything you need to start.
Our first stop will be the Cenote Esmeralda, the largest in the lagoon, with a diameter of over 500 meters. Next, we’ll visit Cenote Cocalitos, home to the stromatolite sanctuary. At Pirate Canal, you’ll have a chance to swim in warm and shallow waters while we prepare a fruit picnic.
The Cenote Negro, also known as the Witch’s Cenote, will be our next stop. The water’s depth exceeds 100 meters, and you’ll see a change of color in the water. Bird Island is the last stop before returning to the dock, where you can relax among the birds and clear waters.
As the Bacalar Boat Tour ends, enjoy the beautiful breeze, reflecting on the amazing adventure you had with us.

Wir hatten Jose Luis als Guide und es war ein rund um tolles Erlebnis! Absolute Empfehlung! Was gab Obst und Getränke und Jose Luis war sehr angenehm auch auf englisch zu verstehen.
And book with José Luis if you can! This was one of my favourite things in 2 weeks of Mexico so far. José is super friendly, plays great salsa music but is open to suggestions and will tell you the history behind all the attractions you visit in Spanish and English. The lagoon is truly breathtaking with turquoise, blue, navy, white, green water and completely clean. The cheaper boat is motor-powered but there's option for 'velero' (sailboat) and private tour. You get a fruit snack and 3 cold drinks each (Coronita, watermelon juice, water, horchata or tamarind). Watch out, the lagoon rests on Wednesdays so there's no activities other than swimming that day.
This is the best value tour we could find. It's 3-3.5hrs long as opposed to 2hrs like all the rest and includes snacks. The tour hits all the spots of interest - 3 cenotes, which nobody can swim in due to restrictions (Cenote Negro, Esmeralda, and Cocalitos), Canal de los Piratas with the ruins of a half-built restaurant you can walk into and Isla de los Pájaros with migratory birds. You stop to swim in the latter two - 1 hr in Canal (which seems long but it's actually really nice to have time to enjoy the far end of the lagoon that is hard to get to otherwise) and ~20 mins or however long you have left near Isla. The cenotes don't have walls btw, they're part of the lagoon water.
If you go to the 3pm tour, José might throw in watching the sunset; great photo op at Golden hour! And then you can go see the Abandoned hotel as well. Just look for José Luis when you're trying to book and you'll have an amazing time!

Lo recomiendo mucho. Tuvimos la suerte de hacer el tour con Jose Luis, el mejor capitán de todos! Nos llevo a ver todos los lugares, nos ofreció fruta , bebidas buenísimas, nos llevo a ver el atardecer y estuvo atento de nosotras todo el tiempo. Si pueden no duden en hacer este tour!
